Improving patient confidence through electronic medical records in Nigeria

In 2012, Dr Osagie took a leave of absence from his role as a doctor at Bwari to pursue a Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne. During his studies, he learned about advanced approaches to health system management. Seeing the value in Electronic Medical Records Systems (EMRS), Dr Osagie became determined to introduce a system at home in Nigeria.

On his return to Nigeria, Dr Osagie was promoted to Medical Director of the Bwari General Hospital, paving the way for him to make critical changes. He introduced the EMRS which has enabled the hospital to resolve issues relating to retrieving patient records and monitoring drug stocks, saving the hospital significant funds. The country’s First lady has also noticed the accomplishments.

Read how his interventions have reaped numerous benefits for the hospital and Nigeria’s health sector.
